Sculptural Backlit wall panels, a private commission for a ground floor flat in Hampstead.

The rather slim and dark outdoor space that is about 1.5 meters wide from the door. A space that would be difficult to use at all. Large glazed sliding doors separate the main living room from the outside. So the sculptural wall panels are viewed from the comfort of an armchair. Adding light to the sculpture’s also brightened up this dark area.

The clients wanted  a mixed metals and glass, sculptural wall panel, to make use of this awkward space. Based on some of the buildings and panorama viewed from the river thames as you approach the Canary Wharf area of London.

Working through various designs with the client, we came to the final two that would work together and complement each other.

The contrast of the stainless steel with the rusted mild steel works well with the addition of glass panels inserted behind.

An enjoyable and rewarding project, which was also hard to photograph because of the lack of space.
